The Sioux J.L.W. Zietlow Council Telecom Pioneer Luncheon was held February 23, 2010 at the Royal Fork Buffet, Sioux Falls, SD. President, Kristy Zuraff called the meeting to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a silent tribute to departed and ill Pioneers.  Kristy asked for a motion for approval of the minutes. A motion was made by Swede Svendsen and seconded by Diana Gilbertson to approve the minutes.  Motion passed.  Minutes approved. 

 

Treasurer’s Report: Balance as of February 23, 2010, $861.77, reported by Kristy Zuraff in Dale Axtell's absence.  Motion to approve made by Ken Bertness, second by Gordon Benda.  Motion passed.  Report approved.

 

Fellowship: Addie sent cards to:

  • Bev Brown, hospitalized
  • Family of Lloyd Wakeman, Lloyd's death


Thank you card for Poinsettia was received from John and Leora Gapa.

Program:   Jacki Austin from Client Resources Inc. was present at today's meeting.  Client Resources Inc. is a technical recruiting staff for employers to utilize to meet peak staffing requirements on a cost-effective basis. Old Business:  It was decided that the Pioneers will not participate in the “Christmas Stocking Program” this year.  Pioneers can now receive a 20% discount when staying at Wyndam Hotels.  Pioneers get 5%.

 

Bob Denny will make tickets to be sold for the “Quilt Raffle”.  The quilt was made and donated by Lillian Leitheiser.  The quilt will be displayed in the lobby of the Qwest building and the proceeds will be used to support “The Banquet”.  Ticket prices will be $1.00 for one or $5.00 for six.

 

Volunteers are needed for the BEEP Easter Egg Hunt  project in Aberdeen  Jane Denny is the chair person for the project.  Volunteers will be needed to prepare baskets.

 

New Business:   Someone is needed to chair a committee to recruit new members.  

 

In the future consent release forms will be needed to publish pictures, etc. for media use.

Newsletter Coupon:  Verla Fritz.

 

Door Prize:  Gladys Mathers, Ken Hendrix and Bob Brekke.

The next regular meeting of Sioux J.L.W. Zietlow Council will be held at the Royal Fork on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Swede Svendsen and seconded by George Nelson.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned.

 

There were 38 members present at today's meeting.
