In place of the regular December meeting the Annual Holiday Luncheon was held December

3, 2009 at All Occasions, near Tea, SD, with 67 in attendance.

 

Kristy Zuraff, President, Sioux Council and Sandy Kreber, Chapter President welcomed everyone and reviewed the projects completed in 2009.  Ken Bertness, MC, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a moment of silence for all ill, military and departed members. Elmer Holso led the group in prayer.  Ken Bertness, introduced all Chapter and Council officers.  A thank you was extended to the Holiday Luncheon Committee chaired by Shirley Sergeant.

 

Max Phillips, President, Iowa/SD Qwest was the speaker at today's gathering.  Mr. Phillips thanked the Pioneers for their work and expressed the importance of this involvement and presence in the community.  Mr. Phillips shared with the group how Qwest is working to improve the business in an economical way in changing and challenging times. Large Business markets are growing as well as strides in the Education and Medical sectors through further development in technology.

 

The group was entertained by a musical group of young women from Lincoln  High School, Sioux Falls.

 

There was no installation of officers as there were no changes.  The officers are as follows:

Prizes were won by:  Kay Lynn Hite, Leonard Folk, Verla Fritz, Patty Jenkins and Gunnvor Melum.

December $100.00 winner:  Helyn Thompson, Sioux Falls, SD

 

Next regular meeting of  Sioux Z.L.W.  Zietlow Council will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010

at the Royal Fork.

In place of the regular December meeting the Annual Holiday Luncheon was held December 4, 2008 at All Occasions, near Tea, SD, with 81 in attendance.

Kristy Zuraff, President, Sioux Council welcomed everyone, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and a moment of silence for all ill and departed members. Elmer Holso led the group in prayer.  Ken Bertness, MC, introduced all Chapter and Council officers.  All past Council and Chapter presidents were recognized.  Maxine Sharpe was also recognized for many years as serving as Pioneer Administrator.  A thank you was extended to the Holiday Luncheon Committee chaired by Carol Thomas.

Max Phillips, President, Iowa/SD Qwest was the speaker at today's gathering.  Mr Phillips explained the challenges of the business and the company's approach in today's environment.  Today's trend is from land lines to high speed internet.  Mr. Phillips also reviewed the products and services available from Qwest and expressed the importance of the work done by the Pioneers in the community.  Currently there are 40,000 Qwest employees. 

A thank you was extended to Larry Toll for his support of the Pioneer organization.

The group was entertained by storyteller, Diana Borgum, telling the story of an Irish woman, Olgathana.

Bob Denny, Pioneer Administrator, recognized Iver Finnesand, group leader from Aberdeen, who was present at today's luncheon.

Bob Denny also conducted the installation of officers for 2008 for both the Council and Chapter.
