Treasurer’s Report: Kristy Zuraff reported there is $3,853.87 in the treasury. A motion for approval was made by Jack Tom DeVries and seconded by Gordon Benda.
Fellowship: Addie sent cards to: George Nelson, 80th birthday; Lisa and Mike Denny, death of daughter, Kristie; Bob and Jane Denny, death of granddaughter, Kristie; Helen Kunkel, death of sister-in-law, Kathleen Walker, Irene Kutter, hospitalized for stroke; Mrs. Harlan Olson, hospitalized, heart problems; Donna McKitterick and Gloria Krier, death of brother, Marlo Lewis; Velma Husman, hospitalized, back treatment; Julie Strout, death of mother, Elizabeth; Laura Cummings, death of her father, Leo Cluts; Rosie Bernards, death of Orville Waxdahl; E.M. Hallberg, in hospice care for blood disorder; Edith Wrage, hospitalized, surgery and LaWanda Huls family on her death.
Hug-A-Bears: Hug-A-Bears meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Qwest Garage, located at 101 N Indiana Avenue. The group met on July 1 with eight members attending and on August 8 with with eight members attending.
Education: Verla Fritz reported that the project at Robert Frost was completed and another request has been received from Jefferson Elementary to paint a map.
Historical: Bob Denny reported pictures, documents and miscellaneous items are still coming in from various sources. Cataloging of printed material and photographs is on going. 556 items are in the inventory as of this date. As a committee it was decided to use the plywood shelving that was in the original Pioneer room to make a book case. Thanks to Joe Mattecheck and Don Kachelhoffer the project is completed and is in the museum room filled with binders containing all of the pictures. The committee is working with Jeff Carmon to finalize procedures to let people into the building to visit the museum during Pioneer week in November.
Community Service: The Pioneers will serve the Banquet in October. More information to follow.
Newspaper & Website: Nothing to report
Old Business: A representative for the “Awards” committee is still needed. This person will be responsible for listing all projects and filling out the paperwork necessary to submit the project for consideration by National for annual awards.
New Business: Kristy thanked all who helped or brought goodies, both with the Harmonden project and the map painting at Robert Frost.
Bags for cell phone recycling will be available soon. The money brought in by this project will be used for Children's Education programs.
Everyone is reminded to turn in their volunteer hours and send address changes to Bob Denny.
The leftover food from the “Harmonden” project was donated to St. Francis House. They were very appreciative as they are serving about 50 meals per day.
