Christmas in July?
Well, that’s the name of the "Support the Troops" drive we took part in here at 20 East Thomas, Phoenix. And as you know giving is never out of season with our Qwest Pioneer family!
On behalf of Qwest Veterans, Pioneers, the Phoenix LRAC Arizona Pride Ambassadors, and especially for the men and women stationed far away serving our nation, let us say, THANK YOU. Your generosity will bring delight to scores of overseas soldiers when the treats and items you helped provide are unpacked and shared with buddies!!
On Saturday, July 31, about 20 volunteers packed goods collected during our Troop Goods drive. Over 120 boxes were assembled, filled, and delivered to Packages from Home for shipment to our servicepersons. In addition, over $1,100 was raised from caring Qwest employees and Pioneers to cover nearly all shipping costs! Soldiers in Afghanistan, Iraq and those aboard ships will be receiving their boxes in about 10 days, along with wonderful letters written by Pioneers and Qwest employees. Thank you to all who donated or volunteered to make this "Christmas in July" Troop Goods drive a great success.
