Why should I join the Qwest Pioneers ?

Working with the Qwest Pioneers is a great way to volunteer in your community, meet new people, and have a lot of fun!
Pioneer projects are tailored to meet  the unique needs of our communities - and the diverse interests of Pioneers.  Pioneers have a primary commitment to education, and they work with schools throughout our region to help kids be successful.  They work with habitat for Humanity to build homes for the homeless, with the disabled building access ramps in the parks and with the visually impaired and burn victims.  Look almost anywhere that people need assistance - and the Qwest Pioneers are
there

Where are the Qwest Pioneers active ?

What sort of projects are the Qwest Pioneers involved in?

Qwest Pioneers, partners and families do an amazing number of projects to help our communities.  Projects are tailored to community needs.  Here is a sample of what Qwest Pioneers are doing:

  • Building homes with Habitat for Humanity
  • Working with Junior Achievement
  • Painting playground maps
  • Fixing Talking Book machines for the blind
  • Helping with Special Olympics
  • Cleaning roadsides and beaches
  • Sewing Hug-a-Bears for children in traumatic situations
  • Building wheelchair access ramps in parks and forests
  • Creating "beep balls and bases: so that the visually impaired can play baseball
  • Contacting seniors to warn of phone fraud
How much time will I have to commit to the Pioneers?

Volunteering with the Pioneers is as much, or as little, of a time commitment as you choose.  The opportunity exists to volunteer with the Pioneers during events that fit your schedule.  Or, you may chose simply to make your contributions to Pioneering through your membership dues.

Pioneer events take place during weekdays, weekends, mornings, afternoons, and evenings - any time that might fit into your schedule.  Some projects have components that can even be done at home in your free time.

Pioneers welcome partners, families and friends to all projects.  Volunteering is a great way to spend time with your family and friends while making a positive difference in your community.

Working with the Pioneers also offers an opportunity to build important leadership and management skills.
